Hardwin Cahill

Ser Hardwin Cahill, known as the Knight of Jests, was a popular and well-liked knight. His easy manner and wit often belied his excellence as a warrior and tourney knight. Where Martin was gruff and aloof, even in good humor, Hardwin was outgoing and merry, even in times of great stress. He fought in the War of Ninepenny Kings and won the Tourney at Heart’s Home in 261.

Always one to uphold the family honor, in 269 he killed Ser Auden Daylan in a challenge over an insult. To avoid conflict between houses Daylan and Cahill, the children of the two combatants were fostered to neutral houses and Ser Hardwin agreed to spend a year in exile. Upon his return to the Vale he made his way to visit his son, Tristan. Passing through the mountains, he was ambushed by bandits and killed.

He is survived by his wife and three children.
